Beta: Monday 7 July, 2025 Full Client Release: Mon 14 & Tue 15 July, 2025

Improved URL structure for better SEO (Productions, Themes, Theme groups)

In Release 213, we announced an improved URL structure for Courses and People. In this release, you get the same flexibility for your What’s on / Calendar list, Production pages, Theme groups and Theme pages.

Why this matters to you:

  • Boost your SEO and tracking: Cleaner, more meaningful URLs help search engines and analytics tools better understand and rank your content.
  • Enhance Visitor experience: URLs will be easier to read and share, making you site more user friendly.
  • Gain more control: You will have more control over the exact naming of different sections of your URLs with new prefixes and slugs, tailoring them exactly how you want.

What you can do now:

Create short url’s (slugs)

Every Production, Theme, Theme group and People page now comes with a (multilingual) slug field:

Slugs are now used as part of the main URL for each page, followed by a four-digit identifier.

This identifier appears at the end of the URL, making links cleaners and easier to read. Previously, codes were used earlier in the URL.

You can add or change Slugs for any Production, Theme, Theme group or People page at any time. Existing URLS will automatically redirect to the new ones, so there is no risk of broken links.

Create new URL prefixes

We have added the possibility to create customer URL structures for different content sections by adjusting the URL prefix. This feature supports multilingual sites, making it easier to tailor URLs to each language version of your site.

Examples:

  • Your calendar might be called /whats-on, your productions can use a different URL like /event/event-title
  • Your /courses overview can be renamed to /workshops while each course can use the url /workshop/workshop-title
  • /themes can become /festivals

The following sections now fully support these new prefixes:

  • Course detail pages
  • Courses overview
  • People detail pages
  • Production detail pages
  • Productions overview
  • Theme group pages
  • Theme pages

As we roll out this feature, your current URL structures will remain exactly the same.

⚠️
Take note!

Since changing URL prefixes on an active website can impact SEO results, we recommend carefully considering any changes. Any changes should be considered with care. If you do want to update a URL Prefix, please contact our Customer Success to assist with this change.

We are also working on a robust redirect feature that will automatically track URL prefix changes and ensure visitors are smoothly redirected from old URLs to new ones. This feature is not available yet, we  advise holding off on changing any URL prefixes until the redirect service is launched.

Accessibility update: better communication in multi-select filters for the agenda (both default and sidebar)

Multi-select filters now show the number of selected options while keeping the original instruction text visible. This improves accessibility for screen reader users, who can now better understand the purpose of the filter.

Previously, the filter displayed all selected options when closed, which made it difficult to use with a screen reader.

This update is part of our ongoing commitment to making your website fully accessible. We have already made significant progress in recent releases, and there’s more to come! You can view our plans here.

Increased Email security: Using DANE

DNS-based Authentication of Named Entities or DANE, adds an extra layer of email security by ensuring emails are only delivered via verified, encrypted connections. This helps prevent spoofing and tampering.

We have added DANE support for your critical emails (like login and order confirmations) and Mailings (newsletters, automated pre-service/after-service) to:

  • Maximize deliverability across the board
  • Strengthen trust in all communication from your domain
  • Ensure encryption by default, for every message, not just the sensitive ones

It’s a step toward safer, more reliable email communication for all users.

Additional Fixes & Improvements

  • Fixed validation errors for Itix Theaterabonnement support
  • Enabled Social icons in all Footer columns. Added a new [!logo:bluesky!] syntax to include Bluesky social icons, especially useful for subsites
  • Themes: Resolved an issue preventing Productions and Events from being added to Themes
  • Stories: Filter buttons now automatically adopt the background colour of the section underneath for better visual consistency.
